Austin’s Latest in Chinese Collages

For my next trick I’ll be collaging some chinese newspapers I found onto 8 1/2″ x 11″ paper. For this I needed a more durable paper that could last through multiple applications of different media, such as wheat paste, stencils and acrylic.

I pieced together these stories and articles made of up local and national news in Chinese onto the paper and formed them in some interesting arrangement.

The paper did not hold up as well as I wished though as it did warp some with the collage pasting. I will need to find a thicker paper next time or some way to add additional support.

I am creating small test prints of something I would like to eventually do on a larger scale, such as on canvas. However by experimenting with small samples first I am able to get a preview of my final result without expending too much energy on an idea that may not work out like imagined.
